Sorrowing Purse, ceramic, satin cord and trim
Sorrowing purses were traditionally sealed with binding gnarlements and contained items relating to the object of sorrow. These would be retained in the purse for a period of mourning before the knots were unbound and the items released which would signal the end of the mourning period.
