Void Shell (Boy) (Flanders) (Rain) (Mud)

Void Shell (Boy) (Flanders) (Rain) (Mud)

The shell is based on the haliotis shells displayed in Gathering Landscapes and depicts Christopher Wood’s Jumping Boy and Christopher Nevinson’s Rain and mud after battle, which also appear in the exhibition. The boy represents one of Whittle' s shapeshifters and the wartorn landscape again becomes a site where strange things happen, a void from which figures emerge into chaos.
